The problem

Cards are traded like assets. The tools aren’t

In March 2025 I published an essay, Reimagining Trust in the Collectibles Market, arguing that collecting has three connected problems.

  1. Opaque pricing. Prices swing on hype, and it is hard to tell what a card is really worth.
  2. Fragile trust. Authenticity depends on a few grading companies, and counterfeits circulate.
  3. Scattered tools. Tracking, verifying, and trading happen in different apps.

Viridian takes on each one.

  • Pricing. A live market tape, estimated prices and price movement, and a page for every card.
  • Trust. A Verified badge on card pages, and every value labelled as an estimate. BinderChain explores verifiable ownership records further.
  • Tools. Tracking, a market, and trading in one app.

What it does

Your collection, read like a portfolio

Viridian puts tracking, pricing, and trading in one app, and lets you own cards in shares.

  • A home screen that reads like a brokerage.

Total value, profit and loss, and your holdings at a glance.

  • Vault drops.

Featured, curated collections with fractional ownership. The first, the Dream League Collection, is 18 cards.

  • A market tab.

A live market tape, browsing, a watchlist, and recently added listings.

  • Card pages.

Each card gets its own page, with a Verified badge on verified cards.

  • Orders in shares.

Buy or sell with a market order at the best available price, or a limit order at your price, with an estimated total before you confirm.

  • Submit a card.

Add a card by name, condition or grade, and estimated value.

Design choices

Four choices that shaped it

  • A portfolio, not a gallery.

The home screen leads with total value and profit and loss, so a collection reads like holdings and not a photo grid.

  • Shares, not all-or-nothing.

Cards are bought and sold in shares, with market and limit orders like a brokerage, so you can own a piece of a card instead of the whole thing.

  • Estimates, clearly labelled.

Values are shown as estimates, with a plain note that the app gives no financial advice. A Verified badge marks verified cards.

  • Ship small, then fix the basics.

Version 1.0 launched on June 28. Version 1.0.1 followed the next day, with sign-up, password reset, and wallet fixes.

Under the hood

A native app on Supabase

Viridian is a native iOS app written in SwiftUI. Supabase handles authentication, portfolio tracking, market pricing, and order management.

Accounts use email verification and password reset. A wallet tracks deposits, balances, and pending withdrawals.

Where it stands

Early, and honest about it

Viridian describes itself as an early collectible card tracking and marketplace-style experience. What comes next is growing the vault, redemption, and the set of supported cards.

Every price and value in the app is an estimate for information only. Viridian does not give financial advice or promise returns.
